Applications are invited for the above post based at University Park, School of Humanities, Department of History.

The purpose of the role is to provide high-quality teaching in modern history from planning through to delivery at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum. As role holder you will draw on your expertise to convene and teach a Level 3 special subject on ‘The History of a Relation: Jews in Modern Europe’ and to supervise undergraduate dissertations. You will also contribute to first year team taught modules including ‘Learning History’ and ‘The Contemporary World’. In addition, you will have personal tutoring responsibilities and will undertake such administrative tasks as agreed with the Head of Department.

To apply you must have a PhD already awarded in modern European history (or to be awarded by the time you take up the appointment). Essential qualities include excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to design and deliver high-quality and up-to-date course material. You will have demonstrable experience and success in delivering undergraduate teaching, together with a track record of research publications and future research plans. A higher education teaching qualification or equivalent is also desirable.

We warmly welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities, and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We are proud to have an Athena Swan Bronze Award in our school.

Our school uses anonymised recruitment for shortlisting, where we cannot see any personal data in your application, until shortlisting has been completed (you will apply by answering criteria-based questions relating to the person specification, rather than by submitting a CV).

This post will be offered on a fixed-term full-time (36.25 hour) basis, commencing 1 February 2022 until 31 July 2022. Job share arrangements may be considered.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Andrew Cobbing, Head of History, email: andrew.cobbing@nottingham.ac.uk – please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
