Call for Applications

The Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies (OCHJS), as part of its new programme the Oxford School of Rare Jewish Languages (OSRJL), invites proposals from individuals wishing to undertake a Visiting Fellowship at the OCHJS on a topic related to Judeo-languages.
The OCHJS and its newly created OSRJL invites applications for a Visiting Fellowship from applicants who are current, established academics and/or postdoctoral researchers working on any aspect of Judeo-languages, including linguistics, literature, manuscript studies and book history. The successful applicant will become a Visiting Fellow of the OCHJS for at least one calendar month during either Oxford University’s Hilary Term 2022 or Trinity Term 2022. As such a Visiting Fellow, she/he will be the recipient of a stipend of £3,000.
Proposals, in no more than two pages, should include the following information:
- Title of Project
- Description of subject
- Research methods to be used
- Possibilities for innovation through the research project
- Reasons why Oxford is particularly appropriate as the venue for the research, including titles of materials that might be consulted as part of the project
- Value of the project for the development of Jewish Studies as an academic subject
- Outcomes of the project (e.g., articles, book chapters, etc.)
Please attach a curriculum vitae and publication list in addition to the proposal.
The OCHJS will inform applicants following the deadline in November 2021 which projects have been selected for further consideration and then may request further information from applicants before the final decision is made and announced in the beginning of December 2021.
